The Issues:

Transportation Infrastructure

Traffic flowing through Englewood moves too quickly for the safety of all road users. Living at the corner of Dartmouth and Downing I see serious accidents far too frequently. It is my belief that smart, efficient infrastructure can slow down vehicles in a way that won’t impede traffic. I see several possible solutions to the Dartmouth corridor, and would like to work with city traffic engineers to find the best and most cost effective solution:
- Roundabouts or traffic circles
- Crosswalk bump-outs
- Increased city investment in street side landscaping

Zoning and Density

Zoning has become a hot button issue in Englewood, but the solution is more simple than it seems. Keep established single family home neighborhoods the way they are. Encourage density in areas that need increased private investment and are aligned with higher volume public transit. In a perfect world public and private investment come together to build a cohesive urban fabric that can be enjoyed by all residents.

Downtown Development and Supporting Small Businesses

I would like to support small businesses in Englewood, and see our downtown continue to thrive. The entire South Broadway corridor is vital to the character of Englewood. We need to keep Englewood unique and weird, while we provide resources to citizens interested in running businesses in Englewood. Our city offers many robust tools that I will support and help to grow.

Supporting our Neighborhoods

We need to address walkability and pedestrian safety throughout our neighborhoods. Many of our sidewalks are too narrow to fit a stroller, and too many of our walking thoroughfares surrounding parks lack pedestrian infrastructure like cross walks or light-up crossing signs. I want to support our investment in parks by making sure they are safe to access. I want to make sure growing families are able to walk safely in their neighborhoods. I don’t want to tear up all of our sidewalks, but I would like to see a revision in our city code so that the new sidewalks we build can accommodate two people walking side by side.

Community Safety

Our police play a vital role in the continued success of our city. While we are fortunate to live in a very safe city, crime still exists. I will strive to make our police response more efficient by addressing homelessness and freeing police resources to focus on other pressing issues in our community such as road use, theft, and violent crime.
